Cool Cannot Get the Automated Feature to work - 03-23-2009, 03:17 PM

Hi all love the program, as an avid phone user and a student I always have my iphone jammed with vids...... i recently bought a complete collection of medical student study videos all 385 of them. I have been trying to get the automated feature working. Specifically I went to settings/encoding and ticked the Automation Setting "automatically queue files to convert" I browsed and pointed the program to the folder with the videos in it. (it didnt work) i read the instructions clearly and it says

"Additional Features
Although its not completely automated, you can also manually downloaded video and then have Videora iPhone 3G Converter automatically convert and copy (provided iTunes Auto-Sync is on) the video to your iPhone 3G. Simply copy or download videos to your default download directory (while Videora iPhone 3G Converter is running) and Videora iPhone 3G Converter will automatically find, convert and copy it (provided iTunes Auto-Sync is on).

So i created a new folder pointed Videora to the folder as specified and while Videora was running "i assume that means ON" I copied 10 video files in there.......well nothing happened i waited a while tried everything again and then left it overnight......nope not a movement....

I am sure i am doing something dumb so could anyone please help I will get rsi trying to convert all my medical instruction files. Specifically (a) does this feature work (b) what have i missed...simply telling me the above instructions again might not be that useful as I have tried several times.

One thing im not sure on is what is the check delay box for it was default on 0 and first time i tried the automation it says script error you cant have a 0 so i changed it to 1

Don't use that. You're not downloading any video so there are no "new downloaded videos" for it to find. Use the batch feature instead... start one conversion, then add others... they'll be queued.

It specifies clearly in the explanation that you can copy or download video to your default download directory and there are clearly two sections in the settings one for "as you clearly point out for new downloaded videos" and one for copied or downloaded videos" as you can see from the explanation below, there are also two different places to set up the automated conversions, (a) settings tab encoding tab and automation settings tab which is clearly for the queueing of either downloaded or copied files, then there is (b) the settings tab converter tab and the download settings which i assume is for the downloading files, either way I am still confused

Are you saying no you cannot copy files into a default download directory and have them automated even though the paragraph below states clearly that you can.......instead I need to manually convert one file at a time all 385 ....and yes i understand the bit about a file going into the queue if the one in front has not finished but I would still have to click on convert, choose file, allocate file name etc 385 times.

Thanks again for all your assistance.

I wasnt saying that at all, it doesn't work and the instructions are either wrong or at best very obtuse, and your unhelpful sarcasm has been duly noted. Sure delete the message see if i care

I played around with the converter, seem that it can only detect certain NEW video. for example it cant detect flv for auto converting.

Hi,
I know this topic is old but I just wanted to add to it and say that I am having the same problem. I read the instructions exactly as conwayboys did and agree that, according to those instructions, you should be able to do a file copy TO the folder that is specified in the settings on Videora and then the file conversion will start automatically.

The reason I want to do this personally is that I always use the same options for all my videos and just want to be able to dump them to a folder and Videora use those options each time.

Has anybody got any firm answer about this and if it cannot be done, why is it still in the instructions that you can??

Me too. I have tried to set it up so I can dump files into the folder and have the software automatically convert but no luck. This feature does not work as it should. I have went over all the settings time and again and experimented endlessly. It just doesn't do what it is supposed to.

consider this a bug report
