Wake Up Sydney Central Review

Wake Up is an excellent hostel located in central Sydney. The hostel has a hotel like atmosphere and upkeep with dorm room prices. It has many of the same services you can find in any hostel like 24 hour access and 24 hour reception as well as a self serve kitchen, dining area and TV room on the second floor. The hostel has a restaurant/bar located on the basement floor of the building with very affordable prices. They have almost every kind of room combination possible including twin, double rooms as well as dorms with 4, 6, 8 or 10 beds. Dorm room prices start as low as $28 a night.

As with all hostels, the dorms are as clean as the occupants inside. Generally speaking they are in great shape. The building used to be an old department store and because of this, some of the rooms have very high ceilings, which is a nice addition. Each dorm has lockers where you can store your bags and lock them up. The lockers are quite big and have room for a 70L backpack as well as a few other things. Most rooms/dooms only have a few electrical plugs. Some of the rooms have plugs that are 7 feet of the ground. In this day of modern electronics there is no way that this is enough for 6 or more people to charge their cellphones, laptops, cameras, etc. It may be a good idea to purchase a powerbar. The bed mattresses are about six feet long.

Before you arrive, your room is provided with clean linens. Each floor with dorms has communal men and women washrooms. These washrooms are kept quite clean and are in great shape. There are a sufficient number of showers with decent shower heads.
